There are many events and opportunities to engage with SARA throughout April and beyond! We hope to see you at some of these events.
🍻Simcoe for SARA: Simcoe for SARA started in 2018 in partnership with Three Notch'd Brewing Company to raise awareness about sexual violence while celebrating local beer. Each year, breweries create their signature Simcoe for SARA using Simcoe hops to benefit the services and prevention education programs at the Sexual Assault Resource Agency.

🌙Take Back the Night: There are many events hosted by UVA’s Take Back the Night (TBTN) organization as well as one event hosted by the UVA administration.
March 30th, 6:30-8:30 pm - UVA Sexual Misconduct Town Hall. Via Zoom or in person at SHP 101. Ask questions about what UVA is doing to address sexual harassment & violence.
April 5th, TBTN Healthy Masculinity Event.
April 8th, 6:00 - 8:00 pm - TBTN Vigil. Candlelight vigil for survivors of sexual assault or domestic abuse, friends, and allies can share experiences and support each other. Will be held at the UVA Amphitheater.
April 9th, 7:00 pm - Take Back the Bars. At Buddhist Biker Bar. Drink deals & battle of the bands benefiting SARA.
April 11th, TBTN Title IX & Alternatives to Reporting.
April 14th, TBTN Communities of Color Event.
April 16th, TBTN LGBTQIA+ Event.
🎡Family Fun & Convo Expo: SARA, SHE, and Region Ten will be hosting an event for parents and families, to support access to mental health resources, as well as healthy relationships within families. We will provide free lunch to the first 40 families, games for kids and teens, and will have a wide range of mental health support resources available.
April 30th, 11:00 - 2:00 pm: Family Fun & Convo Expo.
⚽️HER Sports Day: Girls ages 14 and under will have the opportunity to participate in basic fundamental sporting clinics lead by local high school coaches for: Basketball, Field Hockey, Lacrosse, Rugby, Soccer, and Volleyball. We will have a table there as well.
April 23rd, 10:00 am at Burford Middle School
🎥Screening of Boyhood Shadows a documentary that chronicles the journey of 5 men whose lives were changed by childhood sexual assault. Hunter Teets, local therapist, is hosting the event at the Violet Crown. More details to come on SARA's event calendar.
