May 2023: Letter from the Director

Writer's picture: SARASARA

Dear SARA Friends and Community,

When you or a loved one needs support after an assault or resources for sexual violence prevention and education, where do you turn?

If you’re like most in our community, you turn to SARA.

Why?

Because you know you will receive trauma-informed, compassionate care and dedicated advocacy.

And you also know that regardless of your experience, your gender, your sexuality, your race, or your ability, you belong here. Who you are is accepted and celebrated.

Your contributions make SARA the region’s most trusted leading partner in sexual violence prevention and advocacy, recently recognized by the Virginia Office of the Attorney General. We are so grateful to you for helping to create and support our committed team.

You are helping our preventionists, advocates, and therapists touch the lives of many hundreds – whether survivors are facing an urgent need in the Emergency Room, seeking support as they sit through a courtroom trial, calling our 24/7 crisis hotline or building intervention skills and cultural change.

SARA is your community resource when and where you need it. We exist to serve you and your loved ones – to provide hope, healing and recovery.

Your gift is extremely important because it offers immediate help directed to current need.

Your gift will help make an immediate impact on urgently needed services to our community. For example:

  • A gift of $100 provides 6 hours of Emergency Room Advocacy, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  • A gift of $500 provides training to a restaurant’s staff on identifying, intervening, and reporting potentially harmful behaviors.

  • A gift of $1000 provides 3 months of therapy services for a survivor healing from trauma.

More importantly, regardless of the size of your gift, the consistency of your gift means we can plan for the future relying on those commitments. Consider making an annual pledge, be it $50 or $5000.

Your donation is helping to make our community safer. Right here. Right now.

From all of us at SARA, thank you for your generous partnership and support. Gratefully, Renee Branson Executive Director
