PVCC Kids KidsCollege @ PVCC Summer Academies

PVCC location: June 6-August 12 (no classes week of July 4) for rising 3rd - 9th Graders.

Days & Times: Monday - Friday, Morning and Afternoon Academies. Early Drop-off and After Academy Club available at PVCC location.

Location: PVCC Main Campus and Online

Scholarships: KidsCollege scholarship available based on financial need. Academies are open on a space available basis. Face-to-face and online options. See our How to Register page for more information and Forms.

Freedom Schools

3rd-8th grade students can attend this FREE summer program will take place IN-PERSON June 21 -July 22. In order to enroll, your child must be a student of Charlottesville City Schools, Albemarle County Schools, or another local school.

Summer Band (Charlottesville City Schools)

The CCS Summer band program is designed for any rising 5th, 6th, 7th and or 8th grade student who would like to learn a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument. All abilities and levels will be accepted and accommodated. The program will focus on beginning instruction for new band students and continued practice of skills for all other musicians. Students may rent an instrument for a $25 summer rental fee. A Waiver is available for families who qualify for the school’s free or reduced lunch program. This program will take place at Walker Upper Elementary School.

Summer Band sessions will be scheduled during the hours of 9:00-2:00 on the following dates:

June 21–23

June 27– 30

July 5–7

WildRock Summer Program

FREE outdoor adventure day camp to city schoolyards! Every Charlottesville City elementary school will host a week long day camp for rising 1st through 4th graders. Rising 5th, 6th and 7th graders are invited to one of two weeks of camp at Walker Upper Elementary School.

The camp day runs from 8:30 am to 2:30pm. Each week includes:

  • visits with live animals

  • outdoor adventure games

  • craft projects with natural materials

  • nature exploration and outdoor play

  • a Wednesday field trip to Wildrock’s playscape!!

Please note: A school lunch is provided upon request. At this time, transportation is not available. We will notify registrants should this change. Sign up here.

Charlottesville Parks & Rec June 22 - August 12 | 7:30 am - 5:30 pm, weekly fee of $55.00 for residents and $75.00 for non-residents. Financial assistance is available through our Scholarship Program. Transportation is provided to and from camp for City residents only. Transportation is only available during weeks 1-6 from June 22 to July 29. Stops will be limited (within school districts), are not the same as the school year and cannot be changed. Due to COVID-19, buses have a limited capacity and transportation is only available for City residents that have no other way to get to camp. City residents attending Camp Shenandoah who are planning to use camp transportation must enroll at a location within their school district. Clark students enroll at Burnley Moran; Greenbrier students enroll at Venable; Jackson Via students enroll at Johnson. **Field trips and transportation to and from camp will be dependent on bus staffing. Update to follow.

City residents in need of financial assistance may apply for our scholarship program by drop-off to the Parks & Recreation Administrative Office at 501 East Main Street, by mail (P.O. Box 911, Charlottesville, VA 22902) or online. Scholarship applications must be submitted and approved prior to registration. Scholarship processing takes 7-10 business days.


Camp Shenandoah

Ages 5-9 (Rising 1st through 4th Graders)

Experience the best of all worlds at Camp Shenandoah! Make the most of summer with outdoor play and nature discoveries in the schoolyard. Cool off inside with fun arts and crafts, interactive games, and enrichment activities for learning and building new skills. Our summer camp program also includes weekly trips to the pool and a field trip* to an exciting destination. A nutritious breakfast and lunch are provided through the USDA Summer Food Service Program.


Camp Blue Ridge

Ages 10-12 (Rising 5th through 7th Graders)

Get ready for active fun this summer! Each day brings new and engaging experiences from arts and crafts and games to outdoor play and nature discoveries. Make new friends as you enjoy interactive time with other campers. Our summer camp program also includes weekly trips to the pool and a field trip* to an exciting destination. A nutritious breakfast and lunch are provided through the USDA Summer Food Service Program. This camp is for rising fifth through seventh graders


Camp Skyline

Ages 13-15 (Rising 8th through 10th Graders)

If you are ready for a non-virtual and social summer, this is the camp for you! Enjoy indoor and outdoor active fun with other teens including sports, games, outdoor exploration, and skill-building activities. Our summer camp program also includes weekly trips to the pool and a field trip* to an exciting destination. A nutritious breakfast and lunch are provided through the USDA Summer Food Service Program. This camp is for rising eighth through tenth graders.


CAYIP

The Community Attention Youth Internship Program (CAYIP) is returning to in-person for Summer 2022. This is a paid internship experience opened to Charlottesville City youth who are ages 14-21. The program will run from June 21, 2022 to July 31, 2022.

Youth are expected to work up to twenty hours a week for the six week session. This session, interns will have the opportunity to earn a performance-based stipend up to $10 per hour (not to exceed $1,200 per session) and complete a resume at the end of the session.

Front Porch CVille

Love music, movement, and play? Our SPRING BREAK & SUMMER CAMPS incorporate ukulele, creative play, movement, singing, and nature. No experience necessary! Each day will include music, games, an art project, creative play stations, and time outside. Sign up for one week or multiple weeks. Activities may vary slightly, but the general flow will remain the same.

For children ages 4-10 yrs. 8:30 am – 3:00 pm, Monday – Friday (excludes July 4th):, Spring Break Camp is at the downtown location (ages combined)

4-6 yr old summer camp will be held at our downtown location: 221 East Water St

7-10 yr old summer camp will be at our Dale Ave location: 508 Dale Ave (behind Preston St. Bodo’s).

$395/week registration fee, 10% with code EARLYBIRDCAMP if you register by May 3rd.

Downtown (ages 4-6) Campers will sing, play, move, and create through a variety of musical activities each week. We’ll explore songs and rhythms with different instruments. Each day, our young musicians will have group music lessons, free choice stations (including crafts, reading, games, building), a rest period, and playtime outside in our outdoor courtyard garden.

Dale Ave (ages 7-10) Campers will learn chords and strumming patterns on ukulele. Each week will feature new simple songs to add to campers’ song libraries. We’ll explore songs and rhythms with a variety of instruments. Each day, our musicians will have group music lessons and free choice stations in our classrooms and outdoor tented space.


Living Earth School

ACAC

Registration for Summer Camp 2022… #AdventureUnplugged is now open! Space is limited – register today. Camp is open to both members and non-members from 7:30am – 6:00pm, Monday through Friday, June through August. Sports/water activities each day. Member Pricing: $340/week

Non-Member Pricing: $375/week.
