Last week we celebrated all of the amazing volunteers at SARA at Volunteer Appreciation Week. We kicked off the week by hosting an ice cream social. Volunteers joined us to chat, play games, and eat ice cream of course. Then, later in the week volunteers were invited to a breakfast-f
or-dinner potluck. We had fruit, pastries, waffles, music, and great conversation. Volunteers were showered with appreciation all the way to their mailboxes where they found snail mail with notes and signatures from staff members.
Volunteers do incredible work for SARA.
Hotline volunteers help answer calls on SARA’s 24/7 hotline to provide callers with appropriate referrals and resources to empower callers to make their own choices and conduct their own healing process. Outreach volunteers organize and participate in community awareness events and projects. Administrative volunteers assist with answering office phones, greeting clients, and completing office responsibilities and projects as needed. And group volunteers usually volunteer on a one-time or yearly basis and assist with a larger project in and around our office/community.
Volunteers play a vital role in SARA’s mission to educate our community and assist and empower people who have experienced sexual violence. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please email katie@saracville.org.
