Supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing survivors of sexual and domestic violence.

The CAC is comprised of primary partners:

  1. Shelter for Help in Emergency (Shelter, Lead Agency)

  2.  Sexual Assault Resource Agency (SARA)

  3. Virginia Association of the Deaf (VAD)

  4.  Susanne Wilbur, LCSW

The CAC’s mission is to facilitate a culturally and linguistically responsive and sustainable network of community resources that meets the needs and enhance services to Deaf and Hard of Hearing victims/survivors. 

Established in October 2019 after receiving funding from the United States Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women, the Community Access Collaboration: Supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing Victims/Survivors Sexual and Domestic Violence (CAC) was created in Charlottesville, Virginia (VA) to improve access and services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing victims/survivors of sexual and domestic violence throughout Planning District 10 which includes the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Green, Louisa, and Nelson.
