This year, the Sexual Assault Resource Agency (SARA) will honor Geri Greenspan, a local lawyer with the firm Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP. Ms. Greenspan’s practice focuses exclusively on pro bono matters and concentrates on representing and advising domestic and sexual assault violence survivors, including those seeking court protection from an abuser for themselves and their children.

Geri Greenspan

“This event is an opportunity to honor a woman who has provided invaluable services to local sexual assault survivors,” said SARA Direct Services Advocate, Gleibys Gonzalez, “Through her experience and dedication, Geri has developed expertise in the dynamics of sexual violence and uses a trauma-informed approach with SARA's clients. She provides them legal counsel free of charge and empowers survivors to face their attackers in the courtroom. We are so grateful to have her in our community doing this important work.”

Annie Forrest

Keynote speaker for the SARA Breakfast is Annie Forrest, an Engagement Manager at the One Love Foundation, the national nonprofit founded in Yeardley Love’s honor with the goal of educating young people about healthy and unhealthy relationships and ultimately changing the statistics around relationship abuse. Prior to One Love, Annie worked as a Leadership Consultant for Sigma Kappa Sorority, serving on the National Panhellenic Conference’s Student Safety and Sexual Awareness Task Force, and remains an active volunteer within the organization. A native of the rural Southwest part of Virginia, Annie graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Women, Gender, & Sexuality and a B.A. in Psychology. She was deeply involved in the violence prevention community while at UVA, receiving the Act Honor Hope Award from the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance for legislative advocacy efforts. These experiences sparked her desire to work in the field of violence prevention full-time.

We expect 200+ attendees including medical professionals, legislators, philanthropists, staff and volunteers from other non-profit and social service organizations, county and city agency representatives, and individuals from the private sector interested in strengthening our community.
